We cannot wait around for an economic earthquake

Fitch Ratings’ recent downgrade of our country’s currency default rating should come as no surprise, especially when considering the rating’s key drivers. This includes the federal government’s last-minute and reckless mismanagement of enormous fiscal policy issues and the predicted rise of the deficit to an astounding 5.8 percent of the gross domestic product in fiscal year 2023. Cumulative debt is projected to exceed the country’s GDP next year. Many of us have been warning about these economic tremors for years, and we must act now to prevent further fiscal disaster.

Durst disagrees with the opinion of state education leaders. He surmised that a district cannot have two superintendents with emergency certificates — his certificate (if granted) and the one held by his predecessor Susan Luckey, who was appointed interim superintendent from March through June, following the resignation of Jackie Branum.

Questions abound on ambulance service

Perhaps your company would do better following the example of Porthill residents who banded together and formed a strong first responder group. Isn’t that what served us well before the district was formed? Instead of your demand that every corner of the county must be "covered" by a state-of-the-art ambulance and paramedic 24/7.
