Youth hunting licensing to be made easier for families

Fish and Game continues to propose steps to simplify youth licensing and hunting, to make it easier for families and youth to understand youth hunting opportunities and eligibility requirements. Commission-approved seasons include youth general and controlled hunts for pheasants, turkeys, and waterfowl. Currently, age and mentoring eligibility requirements are inconsistent with resident Junior Hunting License and nonresident Junior Mentored Hunting License requirements and are inconsistent across species.

IPNF issues county road closures

Coeur d’Alene, Idaho -- The Idaho Panhandle National Forests issued additional road closures on multiple Forest Service roads in Boundary and Bonner County for public health and safety due to flooding damage and unsafe conditions. Warmer weather, snowmelt and heavy spring rains are creating soft road surfaces and spring “break up” conditions on many Idaho Panhandle National Forests roads.

“The whole process has been completely amazing,” said Nathan Williams, now in his fourth season as the Badgers boys basketball coach. “And the parents … it’s an hour and a half to Spokane, Coeur d’Alene, when we’d play an AAU game, and an hour and a half back, and there were so many times there was 6, 8 inches of snow. And we’ve got a game at 8 a.m. They’d always schedule us at 8 a.m., coming from Bonners. So we’re waking up at 5 … it was crazy. But the commitment from the parents and the kids has been amazing.”
