SANDPOINT — Scarecrows, sunflowers and late summer fun are coming up as the Boundary County Fair presents its annual celebration of community, agriculture, and livestock Aug. 17 through 20. A community mainstay since 1920, the fair offers plenty of options for getting involved. For those who have always wanted to participate as well as those who take part regularly, now is the time to get an entry ready for one of the many contests on offer.

Then when mean old Mr. Potter stole the money that George’s forgetful uncle was trying to deposit, and the bank examiner was on his way to the savings and loan, it looked like George was going to lose the savings and loan and also go to jail. George, thinking he was worth more dead than alive, jumped in the river to kill himself.

Demolition derby is a hit with fans, drivers
BONNERS FERRY — The demolition derby was set to start at 6 p.m., yet the stands of the Boundary County Fairgrounds filled quickly on Saturday, Sept. 8, almost reaching capacity by 5:30 p.m. The lure of the sound of metal on metal, engines racing, and the perfume of exhaust in the air, drew the spectators to the 2018 Smash & Bash put on by Glass House Productions, LLC.

The Bonners Ferry High School softball team made history Tuesday, taking the Intermountain League 3A District trophy from the Timberlake Tigers at Timberlake High School for the first time.
