BOISE (AP) — A report by the Idaho Department of Labor shows total personal income in Idaho was up 3.9 percent in 2012 compared to the previous year and strong gains in many of the state’s rural counties.

Courthouse to open for limited public access Monday
While Boundary County officials are requesting the public continue to conduct county business online, over the phone, or through the mail whenever possible, the courthouse be opened for limited public access beginning Monday, May 18.

Fulcher Introduces Amendment to PRO Act
Congressman Russ Fulcher submitted an amendment to H.R. 842, the Protecting the Right to Organize (PRO) Act. Currently, union elections can be delayed due to lawsuits, and those frivolous lawsuits keep dangerous union bosses in business. Congressman Fulcher’s amendment would require an election for union leadership to occur as scheduled, regardless of a union’s attempts to delay it with a lawsuit. Congressman Fulcher spoke on the House floor this afternoon in opposition to the overall bill.

Missing Naples man dies from hypothermia
BONNERS FERRY — A number of volunteers gathered Saturday, Jan. 4 at the Naples General Store to continue the search for 20-year-old James Sanborn, of Bonners Ferry, who went missing Jan. 1 after walking away from a friend’s house on Sandy Ridge Road near Naples.
Off highway vehicle safety class scheduled June 3
The Boundary County Sheriff’s Office is hosting an OHV safety class on June 3, at 9 a.m. at Recreation Park Road (East side of the Boundary County Fairgrounds). The class is for ATV and off road motorcycle riders under 16 years old. The class will provide instruction and certification required for unlicensed riders to operate their off highway vehicles on United States Forest Service roads and will last approximately three hours.

Dental powder for your dentures
Fasteeth Alkaline Dental Powder was sold in the United States until the mid-1950s. The powder was used to form a film on dental dentures to keep them in place to allow a person to eat and drink without fear of their dentures falling out of the mouth. This size container was given to patients by the dentist as a sample. The powder could then be purchased at the local pharmacy. This one and a half inch tin belonged to Ruth Lozier Campbell (1898-1987). You can see this small tin in the medical exhibit on Nurse Chadwick’s shelf.

Boundary County involved in grizzly bear resolution
In December 2014, the Alliance for the Wild Rockies filed a petition with the United States Fish and Wildlife Services to list the Cabinet-Yaak grizzly bears as an endangered species and to designate the habitat in the Cabinet-Yaak ecosystem to the grizzly bears.
