Legislative session proving unexpectedly busy
What started as a slow session has quickly become one of our busiest in recent memory. As of the end of last week, we have already introduced roughly 100 more bills than last year, with 140 more than last year being prepared by our bill drafting office. At the end of this week, the afternoon committees in the House have been closed down for bill introductions and any new bill proposals are required to be introduced by one of the privileged morning committees or by the Ways and Means Committee.

While you probably did not consider the repercussions of your "trigger law," you have caused hardship on families who just want to give birth to their children in the safest way possible.

So why am I, an old man, writing about Women's History Month? Excellent question and after reading this you might have a small peek at the answer. In 1980, then-President Jimmy Carter designated March 8 as National Women's Week. Congress in 1987 designated the month of March, Women's History Month, and every president since has continued that designation. March 8 is also International Women's Day. Below is a little history of remarkable and influential women from the past and present.

Proposed firearms bill draws concern
A firearms bill being heard by the Senate State Affairs Committee would add a level of “nuance” to state statute, according to its author. However, critics dispute Herndon’s contention, saying the bill could jeopardize their property rights allowed under a lease and could put such events as the Festival at Sandpoint at risk.
