While the calendar reminds us that we’re in the heart of winter, the warmth of summer will be upon us before we know it. For many of us, that means backyard cookouts and fresh produce from the garden. But for some Idaho children, summers can mean a lack of food. When they’re dismissed from class on the last day of school, students lose access to regular lunchroom meals. In some cases, these school-day vitamins and nutrients are their most reliable source of nutrition.

Since then, his health has been a roller coaster of ups and downs. Now, a Go Fund Me has been set up to try and help him and his family.

PEO hosts Friendship Tea
Chapter AP, PEO, Bonners Ferry, held their annual Friendship Tea on May 6, at the United Methodist Church. Members and guests enjoyed a flower arranging program by Terry Wallace, Chief Designer, Sugar Plum Floral, Bonners Ferry; and refreshments of tea sandwiches and cookies provided by the PEO members. Chapter AP President Debra Perry, and Chairperson Mary Hays made presentations about the PEO organization and its mission of assisting women seeking access to higher education through scholarships and low interest loans.

Transportation funding crucial to economy, citizen safety
By now you’ve heard about the discussion at the Idaho Legislature regarding Idaho’s need for funding our deteriorating transportation system. The Governor’s Transportation Task Force, of which I was a member, identified a $543 million annual shortfall in the state’s transportation system, and $262 million annually is necessary just to preserve the existing system.
Five running for two seats on Bonners Ferry Council
On election day, Tuesday Nov., 3, three newcomers will challenge city councilmen David Gray and John Langs. Chris Clark will run unopposed for a two-year seat on the council.
Parents invited to drug awareness program
Bonners Ferry High School will be hosting a drug awareness day on Tuesday, May 6, to inform students and parents about the dangers of using drugs and alcohol.
