100 Years Ago The Great Northern Railway Co. has given a contract to Phil Barney at the south end of Main St. for a large amount of grading work on the company right of way. A part of the hill south of the tracks will be cut down and the dirt will be hauled to the gulch between the railway and Cottage Avenue.

According to insider.com, Class A types of fire fueled by materials like wood, paper, clothing, trash or plastics are able to be fought with water to douse the fire and remove the heat.

The U.S. Fire Service will pay tribute to the lives of 75 firefighters who died in the line of duty in 2016 and 20 firefighters who died in previous years during the 36th National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Service on Sunday, October 8, 2017. A local memorial ceremony will also be held on that day at 2 p.m. at the main City Fire Station in downtown Bonners Ferry.
