Opinion
I was interviewed for an article that appeared in last week’s Herald concerning the formation of a militia unit in Boundary County. We have received a great deal of positive support so far.
Neighbors, not militia pitch in and do what needs to be done in Boundary County
Been reading with a mighty guffaw the “rise of the militia” in Boundary County, and their call to raise arms to help and assist this community in time of need, rallying to the old cries, “family, community, patriotism!”

As election nears, control of West Bonner board in question
Anxiety about which trustees will control the West Bonner school board continues to swirl through the surrounding towns and backroads of this remote Idaho Panhandle district. For seven months, division and mistrust on the five-person board and with the community have been commonplace. Parents and patrons vocally disagreed and challenged board decisions throughout the summer.

City says treehouse must come down
If you Google "tremain albright treehouse," you'll have your choice of 20,900 websites from around the world to find out that a Bonners Ferry man will lose what is perhaps the coolest treehouse in North Idaho, if not the entire state, because the tree it sits in, while on private property, is in the wrong place.

North Idaho Collision puts focus on quality, customers
North Idaho Collision's recent expansion is all about the customer. More space, more tools and more equipment — all aimed at helping the shop's crew fix customers' vehicles better, more efficiently and easier than ever before. North Idaho Collision's recent expansion gives the crew more room to work — and allows the business to do a better job for customers, owner Shane Florea said.

Museum: Agriculture In Idaho Panel 5 - Specialty Crops
Following the construction of the Libby Dam, valley farmers no longer faced the threat of the Kootenai River floods. The small family farms began to expand into much larger farms and ranches. New experimental, specialized crops began to emerge: seed potatoes, hops, and various grass seed crops. Diversification continued as the County became a leading producer of Christmas trees and later on, a vast array of cold-hardy nursery stock species that have been grown experimentally, with increasing success. The hops and nursery industries are some of the largest employers of agricultural workers.

Capurso looking to provide a fresh voice as commissioner
A candidate for Boundary County Commissioner is no stranger to the political landscape.
County's comprehensive plan lacks leadership
Several years ago, our county commissioners were forced into holding a public meeting to discuss land use: The Comprehensive Plan. This meeting was brought about because hundreds of local citizens saw their ways of life, their investments in their homes, and their quality of life being paved over by rapid, unregulated land development. Prominently they saw the open spaces of the valley bottom and other prime agricultural land threatened by subdivisions and rampant speculation.
Resident upset Herald did not announce rodeo & parade
I found that the cover of this weeks paper was a picture of the rodeo, front page. Why wasn't there any mention of the rodeo coming to Bonners? Or the parade for the rodeo, or at least mention the person that is on the front page. I am really tired of finding out about events after they happen. If you can take the time to walk by and get a picture, but no information on the person you are taking it of, do you think that you could take the time to help promote local events.
