2021 was a comeback year for Badger sports and sports across the county. It was a year to make up for all the time missed in 2020 due to COVID-19 when sports had to take a back seat. In 2021 athletes came ready to compete and win. Which they did.

100 Years Ago The funeral of Albert French, who dropped dead Saturday afternoon at the Simonds Drug Store corner, was held Monday afternoon at the Stookey Undertaking Parlors, the services being conducted by Rev. A.A. Morton interment was held in the Grandview Cemetery. French had recently worked at Perry Wilson’s logging camp in the Leonia district.

Badgers place 3rd and 8th at Tri-State
Eli Richards took third and Brandon Williams took eighth at the 50th Tri-State Wrestling tournament Dec. 17 and 18.

2021 Buzz Lucey tournament, Badgers finished ninth
A handful of Badgers went to the Buzz Lucey Tournament in Montana last weekend, they finished with 41 team points coming in ninth.

4-H showing at fair deadline Jan. 10
Individuals can enroll any time for 4-H, but in order to exhibit at fair and fully participate in all the yearly activities and events students must be enrolled by Jan. 10.
Boy Badgers 4-4 after playing Stanfield and LaGrande
Boys Badgers basketball traveled last weekend to Eastern Oregon to play Stanfield and LaGrande, finishing the weekend with a win and a loss.

Cherokee L. Bolton (DOB 1991) of Bonners Ferry; charged with exceeding the maximum posted speed limit (1-15 mph) on Nov. 8 by BCSO. Disposition: Guilty with fines of $33.50 and costs of $56.50.

Oldtown murder suspect facing cannibalism charge
James David Russell, 39, is facing a cannibalism charge in addition to a first-degree murder charge for the Sept. 10 murder of David Flaget.

Badgers place 8th at George Wild Tournament
The Badgers came in eighth scoring 129 points at the George Wild Tournament last weekend in Kellogg.
