After reading the article about huckleberry picking, I’m curious as to how many fines the Forest Service has collected for commercial picking. Also, I wonder how many people claim their income on their tax forms for selling huckleberries. I see signs in town and at 3-Mile about selling and buying huckleberries, so it should be easy to collect fines from these people. When you pick huckleberries and sell them to someone who is not physically able to go out and pick, shame on you! You should be giving them the huckleberries, as you are not to be picking commercially. I’ve picked berries for years and never sold any. My husband gave them to people who weren’t able to pick their own. I feel it’s time something is done about this problem. Also, too many use those pickers or cut off the bushes so they can pick in confort.
