Raymond L. Rogers
Raymond Louis Rogers, 52, passed away after a courageous 3 ½ year fight with cancer on Sunday, April 29, 2018 at Schneidmiller Hospice House in Coeur d’Alene. Along his trek he experienced two heart attacks, one of which almost took his life, cancer treatments, two brain surgeries, and countless other issues but took each with great courage and strength.

Baseball Batemans Bomb Wildcats
Senior pitcher Chris Sabin gave up two first inning singles and then proceeded to shut down the Wildcat offense striking out eight batters. The Badgers scored three runs in the first and second innings and erupted for four runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to preserve the game shortened 10 run rule game.

Badgers split with Tigers in IML baseball twinbill
The Bonners Ferry Badgers’ 23-game Intermountain League winning streak was snapped in the first game of a doubleheader against their rival Timberlake Tigers. The last time the Badgers lost a league game was back in April 2015 against the Tigers. The Badgers are 7-4 overall and 3-1 in IML.

Rotten ice serves a great purpose
BONNERS FERRY — Spring in Boundary County can be unpredictable and even as the weather warms, many lakes hide beneath a thick layer of ice, enticing people to venture out on its surface to ice fish or just play on the last residuals of a winter wonderland.

The western bluebird: one of nature's finest!
Last Friday was a cloudy, rainy, chilly day and my mood matched the weather. Then I saw a western bluebird, and for the rest of the day I felt it was a “bluebird day” in spite of the weather. I was in the area of McArthur Lake when a male and female western bluebird landed in a budding tree nearby. Fortunately for me they were within camera range as I clicked away.

Richards, Sandelin wrestle for Team Idaho
Eli Richards and Andrew Sandelin both made the Team Idaho Middle School National wrestling team. The boys flew out last Friday morning to Council Bluffs, Iowa, to meet up with the rest of Team Idaho, consisting of kids from all over Idaho, to wrestle at the 2018 Heartland National Duals tournament, consisting of more than 70 teams from all over the country.
Rod Benders gearing up for June 2 Jamboree
If you are a vintage car buff who can’t wait to show off the Model-T or the classic Edsel you’ve been scraping your knuckles on in the garage during the winter months, you’ve got good reason to rejoice. The Bonners Ferry Rod Benders 19th annual Borders 3 Jamboree is almost upon us. Set for the first Saturday in June, this will be on Main Street and will have the feelings of a giant Block Party with vintage car owners displaying their rides of cars, pickups and roadsters.
