Residents frustrated by trash pickup changes
Many city residents were surprised last week to hear they would have to move their trash cans for pick-up — down the block or even further — due to road maintenance.

City workshops LOT for general fund
The Bonners Ferry City Council plans to put a 1% local option tax on the ballot on taxable goods up to $1,000, before voters, but has yet to vote on the proposed tax. The LOT would be for a term of 10 years and would fund fire protection, roads, buildings, grounds, law enforcement and capital operation expenses for the three departments as well as property tax relief.

Open house for Sunrise Road project coming

Providing for the common defense

3A DISTRICT 1 GIRLS BASKETBALL: Tigers back on top — After hiccup last year, Timberlake wins eighth district title in nine years
Timberlake (20-2), No. 2 in the final MaxPreps regular season rankings, advances to state Feb. 16-18 at Skyview High in Nampa, and will open in the day’s first game at 11 a.m. PST vs. the No. 7 seed, which is to be determined.

N. Idaho systems awarded DEQ grants
A trio of North Idaho systems are among the half-dozen selected for grants to fund studies to evaluate community drinking water and wastewater systems. The Idaho Department of Environmental Quality announced the award of $191,300 to six drinking water and wastewater systems on Wednesday. Among those selected for a grant were the Sagle Valley Water and Sewer District in Bonner County, the Curley Creek Water Association in Boundary County, and the Kingston Water District in Shoshone County.

Bonners Ferry Eagle Auxiliary Chapter 3522 gave a $3,500 donation to the Seniors Hospitality Center.
