Registration Open for Baseball and Softball
Spring is nearly upon us — a time to enjoy the sun and warmer weather. With it comes spring and summer activities for local kids. Boundary County Parks and Rec is a big part of that, and now is the time to get your kids signed up for baseball and softball. Parents are encouraged to volunteer as well.

Idaho newborns to be screened for additional illnesses and conditions
Idaho state law requires the Department’s NBS Program to test infants born in Idaho for rare but treatable disorders using a dried blood spot specimen. Any infant born after the effective date will be screened for all 51 conditions.

‘Pioneering a new generation’
NIC Basic Detention Academy graduates first class of students
North Idaho College held a graduation ceremony for its first Basic Detention Academy class Friday, March 10 in the Edminster Student Union Building at NIC. Five recruits completed the nine-week program and all will continue working for local law enforcement agencies. Four graduates will work with Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office and one with Bonner County Sheriff’s Office.

Boundary County Restorium on Feb. 15 will begin an adult daycare program for families who care for an elderly person at home.

Free dental sealants offered for students
Helping to prevent cavities for Idaho children. Beginning March 5, Valley View Elementary School first and second graders can receive free dental sealants and fluoride varnish to help prevent cavities, as part of Delta Dental of Idaho’s Grins on the Go program. Naples Elementary School and Mount Hall Elementary Schools will begin the program on March 12 for first and second graders.

Library program features comedy magic at fairgrounds
This summer, the library kicks off iits summer reading program with a comedy magic show followed by more fun, games and prizes at the Boundary County Fairgrounds. Back by popular demand is the zany comedy magic of Bonners Ferry resident magician, Dave the Magic Man.

Festival at Sandpoint offers spring Masterclasses
New trombones will mean plenty of great music, thanks to new 14 new instruments purchased by the Festival at Sandpoint.
“LEAP Updates”: One-day Workshops for Loggers offered
Over 2,000 Idaho loggers have taken the University of Idaho Extension Program on forest ecology, silviculture, and water quality, titled Logger Education to Advance Professionalism or “LEAP”.
Registrations due March 1 for Logger Workshops
2022 LEAP Updates will be held at three Idaho locations: Lewiston on March 8, Coeur d’Alene on March 9 and Bonners Ferry on March 10.
