DYW of Idaho for 2023 to be named during statewide scholarship competition
High school senior girls from across Idaho will meet in Idaho Falls for the Distinguished Young Women of Idaho program to be held Friday and Saturday, Oct. 7-8. Participants will compete for $35,000 in college scholarships and the opportunity to represent the state as the DYW of Idaho for 2023.
Join together as one to honor, remember our war dead
As I was growing up in the years following America’s victory in the Second World War, I remember being so proud of the country and those who had served and given their lives to win the war. The country had come together as one to accomplish something truly remarkable. Americans of every national origin, faith and creed played a part in the war, although the participation of some — African Americans and Japanese Americans — had been in separate units. Nevertheless, the war dead were honored and mourned by a united, thankful nation.

How ya doing these days?
Whew! It’s been a just over a month since Idaho’s “first phase” of reopening occurred. At this point in time, most businesses are back open, and on normal or almost-normal hours. Some still require provisions, such as masks and limited capacity, but as a whole, things are getting moving again.

BOISE --An Idaho state education coalition has received a $50,000 from the FIRST STEM Equity Community Innovation grant to fund programs for underrepresented and underserved students in Idaho public schools. It will also help communities develop new strategies for addressing equity, inclusion and diversity-based inequities in the science, technology, education and math fields.

The Sandpoint city council approved three sculptures, one by a Bonners Ferry artist, to be featured downtown as part of the Arts, Culture and Historic Preservation Commission's “Silver Box Program” on Wednesday.

Kay R. (Kathleen) Lipp Bergmann, 82, passed away on Feb. 14, 2018, in San Francisco, Calif. A memorial service will be held at the United Methodist Church in Bonners Ferry at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 16.
