The Idaho State Trapshooting Association held its state championship July 23-26 in Boise. A total of 156 shooters from 10 states competed for top awards.

Update on Eneas Peak Fire
Tuesday, Aug 16th, 3 p.m.: A reconnaissance aircraft flew over the Eneas Peak fire to gather information about current fire size and behavior. The fire had grown to 8 acres of burned area and it is still being watched closely by firefighters. It is primarily burning upslope in a north-westerly direction towards the top of the ridge north of Fisher Creek.

Senate President Pro Tem Chuck Winder has removed Sen. Glenneda Zuiderveld as the vice chair of the Senate House and Welfare Committee and reprimanded Sen. Scott Herndon over editorials those two senators wrote that were critical of other senators.

Bonner County Clerk Michael Rosedale said marks on the nine ballots were faintly and not caught by the county's scanners and not counted as votes. The error rate was 0.116%.

BFHS baseball earns first state title
The Bonners Ferry Badgers Baseball Team finally reached the top of the mountain by claiming the 3A State Baseball Championship this past weekend in Ontario, Ore. This is the first baseball championship for Bonners Ferry in its 25-year history and the first 3A title from the North since 1997 when Lakeland was in our league.

The Kootenai Valley Rifle Club hosted the Idaho State Junior Olympic Rifle Championship in Bonners Ferry Jan. 18. 19 shooters from the Bonners Ferry (KV), Sandpoint, and Coeur d’Alene (CdA) clubs along with Little Explorers 4H from Boise and the AJROTC from Walla Walla, Wash. high school were represented.
