BFHS Wrestlers place at Riverside Classic

Bonners Ferry High School’s varsity wrestling squad traveled to Chattaroy, Wash. over the weekend to compete with a number of area schools in the Riverside Classic. While a few of Bonners Ferry’s wrestlers had the flu and were unable to compete, eight of them made the bus, and four of those eight placed in the top three of their respective weight classes.

It is with great sadness that we start the journey to saying goodbye to Robby Gust. Robert L Gust III passed away suddenly at the age of 24 on June 26, 2016 in Post Falls, ID. He is survived by his father and mother, Bob and Shawnna Gust, sister Jenna Gust, stepparents Nicole Gust and Shawn Vanderberg, step sisters Victoria, Madison, and Kendall Cozad. Great Grandmothers; May Whallon and Jeanette Bellmore. Grandparents; Dixie Whallon, Larry and Sandra Whallon, Joanne Bellmore, and Robert Gust SR. Aunts and uncles; Chris and Casey Whallon, Tami and Lyle Kittle, and Leah Anderson. Great aunts and uncles; Terrie Dickerson, Jim and Shirley Issacs, Butch and Vicki Whallon, Kenny and Penny Poston, Becky Lungren, and Cliff Bellmore. His most favorite cousins in the world; Nick, Mckenzie, and Chase Whallon, Caden and Cannon Kemper, and Shawn Nelson and an extended family of cousins that I am sure includes half of Bonners Ferry and Wallace, ID.

I'd like to report an incident I witnessed after the recent Little League baseball team. I wasn't trying to eavesdrop; I was just sitting there minding my own business when I overheard two of the players on the Bonners Ferry Navy team. They were talking about a team much further south of us. The conversation went something like this:

BONNERS FERRY — A diverse group assembled at the Visitors Center Thursday to discuss a common passion -- expanding opportunities to enjoy the North Idaho outdoors. The new Boundary County Trails Committee, brought together by Boundary Economic Development Council Director Dennis Weed, intends to develop the area’s minimal pedestrian and cycle trails to create more safe places, separate from traffic, where people can get outside and enjoy themselves.
