The University of Idaho announced that the freshman class entering the university this fall is the second largest in the recorded history of the university with 1,869 new students enrolled. It is slightly below last year's largest class of 1,951.

As election nears, control of West Bonner board in question

Anxiety about which trustees will control the West Bonner school board continues to swirl through the surrounding towns and backroads of this remote Idaho Panhandle district. For seven months, division and mistrust on the five-person board and with the community have been commonplace. Parents and patrons vocally disagreed and challenged board decisions throughout the summer.

Joseph Guthrie, 90

Annual fall food drive date set

The Selkirk Association of Realtors is holding its annual fall food drive next week and they're inviting the community to help them raise as much food as possible to help those in need. The drive will be held Friday, Oct. 20, from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. at Super 1 Foods in Bonners Ferry.

Commissioners approve Poulton Pines subdivision, with amendments

Poulton Pines, a 62-acre, 20 lot suburban subdivision located off of 822 Chokecherry Drive was approved by the Boundary County Commissioners on Oct. 4 with the condition of creating a looped road instead of a cul de sac for fire escape.

Moyie Springs questions additional engineering fees

Moyie city councilors had heated words with Keller Associates, an engineering company tasked with working on a city sewer project, regarding additional costs for services and payment already rendered. The exchange took place at a special meeting Oct. 4 prior to the council’s regular meeting.
