Fred Stoos (Freddie) graduated from Bonners Ferry High School in 1914. In high school, he was very recognizable by his "pompadour" hair! Fresh out of school he started a small creamery business to help the local farmers.

Is personal agenda behind Title IX complaint?
It is a shame that one individual, a non-resident, chose to file a Title IX complaint when the district is faced with the closing of one school, double shifts and losing programs.
Where were our officials at town hall?
This past Saturday, Feb. 4, Bonners Ferry was host to a town hall meeting at which Idaho Sen. Scott Herndon, R-Sagle and Idaho Rep. Sage Dixon, R-Pondaray, spoke. Mr. Sauter was absent. There was decent public attendance, but noticeably missing were any Boundary County commissioners or city council members.

Bonners Ferry native will support Super Bowl flyover
During the 2023 Super Bowl National Anthem performance three Navy tactical squadrons will conduct a unified flyover. Petty Officer 1st Class Zackary Ray, a native of Bonners Ferry, Idaho, is one of the sailors maintaining the aircraft for Electronic Attack Squadron 129.
New House Bill hopes to target fentanyl trafficking
Proposed legislation — House Bill 67 — would amend current Idaho law relating to penalties for heroin and would add a minimum mandatory sentencing statute for those convicted of trafficking fentanyl.

Bill aims to make first responder help permanent
Legislation to remove a sunset clause from a 2019 bill making psychological injuries suffered by first responders compensable was approved Tuesday by the Idaho House of Representatives. HB18 passed the House 69-0 and has been referred to the Senate Commerce & Human Resources Committee. If approved by the committee, it must be approved by the Senate and then signed by Gov. Brad Little to become law. The bill would then become part of Idaho’s standard coverage for first responders.
Free personal use firewood permits available
The Forest Service will once again issue free, personal use firewood permits for up to 12 cords of firewood per permit holder during the 2023 calendar year.
