BONNERS FERRY — With smoke so thick that it obscured the mountains and cast an eerie yellow haze over the town, people still came out, lining the street, some wearing masks. They came out to show their support as The Wall That Heals — a half-scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C., that travels to communities throughout the United States — passed through Bonners Ferry on Monday, Sept. 4.

Sheriff's Humvee helps community in many ways

Life in Boundary County is filled with adventures for outdoor enthusiasts, and many people also live the adventurous life, far removed from the city. While this can be the idyllic lifestyle, it also comes with risks. The Boundary County Sheriff’s Office has taken steps to mitigate some of those risks by adding a 2007 Humvee to its lineup.

That’s exactly what Sandpoint resident Karie Lee Knoke did, along with nine other participants on the History Channel’s series, “Alone.”
