Jensen named to First Judicial District post
Governor Brad Little announced today his appointment of Susie Jensen to the First Judicial District. The position Jensen will fill is chambered in Sandpoint and will cover Bonner County cases. She will fill a vacancy created by the retirement of District Judge Barbara Buchanan, who was appointed by Governor C.L. “Butch” Otter and served 10 years as a District Court Judge.

New Idaho House representatives fill committee rosters leading up to session

The Idaho House of Representatives announced its full slate of committee assignments Friday morning, with many changes to committee chairmen and membership. Nearly half of the Idaho Legislature’s membership is new on the House side, making many of the committees almost unrecognizable from the previous legislative session.

Requests for welfare checks surge in aftermath of student slayings
As classes resume Monday at the University of Idaho, police have reported a big uptick in calls for welfare checks. Since Nov. 13 — the day four U of I students were found slain in an off-campus house — the Moscow Police Department has received 78 “calls for unusual circumstances” and 36 requests for welfare checks.
