I have been fortunate to observe some baby eaglets since they stood up in their huge eagle nest. I first saw the eaglets March 8 when they poked their wobbly heads up this spring. Thirty years of providing services to those in times of darkness

This month marks the 30-year anniversary of the origination of Boundary County Victim Services, which was initially called Boundary County Youth Crisis Hotline. This week I had the privilege and pleasure of speaking with one of its founding mothers, long time Boundary County, Idaho resident, Judy Dirks, about the organization’s beginning. Boundary County Victim Services started as a 24-hour a day, seven day a week suicide crisis and resource referral line for Boundary County youth on June 1, 1988. The idea of a crisis hotline came after Dirks recognized a need for youth crisis services. Dirks, along with various other community members at the time, began to conceptualize what they viewed as an answer to a community issue in March of 1987. Today, Dirks serves as the secretary for the program’s Board of Directors.

Superintendent Scoop: End of 2017-18 school year

The statement, “This was an interesting year!” evokes many thoughts to different people. I started teaching in 1977; that equals 41 school years! 2017-2018 in BCSD gets the title of the Most Interesting!! This is not to say it was a bad year, very far from that! As synonyms for “interesting” explain: absorbing, engrossing, fascinating, riveting, gripping, compelling, compulsive, captivating, engaging, enthralling and my favorite — intriguing! I will stick with interesting. If you want to know any more, wait for the book… names will be changed to protect the innocent (and the interesting!).
