USFS pile burning update
According to Boundary County Public Information Officer Michael Meier, U.S. Forest Service personnel will be checking existing burns in the Twenty Mile area as smoke is still visible from Bonners Ferry. Please also note that smoke may still be visible from the Camp Nine, Eastport and Snow Creek area spot burning sites.

Work to begin on Moyie River bridges
Drivers traveling to and from Canada through the port of entry at Eastport, can expect delays as repair work begins Monday, July 11 on the Moyie River bridges, the Idaho Transportation Department announced.
Free Crime Prevention Night
Crime Prevention Night: Boundary County Sheriff Dave Kramer, and his crime prevention specialists, will be putting on a Crime Prevention Night on March 15, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Moyie City Council room. The training is free and open to the public. They plan on offering the same training on later dates in the Naples and Eastport areas.
Congressional delegation requests port of entry to return to pre-COVID hours
Idaho’s congressional delegation is calling for the Porthill Port of Entry to return to pre-COVID-19 hours now that travel restrictions are being lifted in Canada and to encourage cross-border commerce.
Man drowns in Moyie River
BONNERS FERRY — U.S. Border Patrol pulled a male subject from the Moyie River in Eastport around 5:15 p.m. on May 22, according to Boundary County Sheriff Chief Deputy Richard Stephens. It was the second drowning in the river in two weeks.

Fatal accident on U.S. 95
BONNERS FERRY — A fatal accident occurred on U.S. 95, milepost 529, approximately nine miles south of Eastport, on Dec. 31 at 4:26 p.m., blocking the highway for about five hours.

An Alberta man is facing charges after he was allegedly caught at the Eastport port of entry with LSD, marijuana and ketamine earlier this month.

"John O'Hogge, had several gold/copper mines in the area [near Eastport] - explaining the naming of the two mountains on each side of the port - Hogue (O'Hogge) Mountain and Copper Ridge.
