BCSD receives Title IX complaint

Rossmiller previously filed a Title IX complaint against Lake Pend Oreille School District 2021 in Bonner County for allegedly failing to adequately address Title IX concerns.

Boundary County School District has received a Title IX complaint allegedly the district is not providing equal opportunities for female high schoolers to play sports.

Badgers slam Hawks, win Backwoods Brawl

The 3A Bonners Ferry boys basketball team (15-1) spread the ball around against the 5A/4A Lakeland Hawks (3-12) with four Badgers ending the night in double digits, two Badgers just a point shy of 10 points in the 77-57 win on Jan. 31.

Blackmore soars, Backwoods Brawl

Badger girls basketball (11-9) came back stronger after half time, but the strong half in the Jan. 28 game wasn’t enough as Stillwater Christian won, 71-57.

Rickter takes first at North Idaho Rumble, five Badgers place

Five Badger wrestlers placed at the North Idaho Rumble last weekend, with Savannah Rickter (G152, 21-1) becoming a two-time champion after pinning her Coeur d’Alene High School opponent in the third round.

Williams brothers lead at Backwoods Brawl

Badgers Ridge and Asher Williams led the contest with 25 points a piece giving Bonners Ferry (14-1) a league win against the Timberlake Tigers (6-10) and a victory at the Backwoods Brawl, a new spirit competition between the two schools on Jan. 27.

Backwoods Brawl: Tiger girls three-point assault

You either live, or die by the three-point line. The Timberlake Tigers girls basketball team (17-2) proved just that at the Backwoods Brawl on Jan. 27, scoring 12 three-pointers against Bonners Ferry (10-9).

Man gets prison for threatening to shoot school and police

Almost a year after his actions led to an armed standoff near Dalton Gardens Elementary School, a local man was sentenced Thursday to prison. Robert J. Green, 40, was convicted in December of three counts of aggravated assault on police with a deadly weapon and one count of threatening violence upon school grounds.

Son charged in father's death

Detectives applied for and were granted a warrant for Evan John Owens for second-degree murder and his bond was set for $5 million. Evan is currently in custody at the Kootenai County Jail.

Man charged with two counts of lewd conduct to minors

A Boundary County man is being charged with two counts of lewd conduct with children under 16, both felonies.

Boys beat Kellogg in final minute, defeat Lions and Knights

The Kellogg (12-4) and Bonners Ferry (13-1) rivalry was on full display at the Jan. 24 match up, with three Badgers fouling out and Kellogg’s Kolby Luna dropping a monstrous three-pointer to make it 54-51 with 1:30 left on the clock.

Junior Payton Sterling scored 21 points, hitting 7 of 11 from the 3-point line, to send the Hawks past the Badgers in a non league game at Hawk Court, finishing 66-37.

City considering LOT to fund general budget

City officials are pondering putting a local option tax before voters to cover a general fund shortfall caused by a Idaho Supreme Court ruling on how such budgets can be funded.
