Spaghetti feed, auction to benefit Brian Ashby

Brian Ashby, a Bonners Ferry native, was recently diagnosed with cancer which is already in an advanced stage and affecting numerous internal organs. Brian is a log truck driver in Boundary County and is the sole supporter for his wife Susannah, four children, and a new little one on the way. Brian is a wonderful friend, neighbor, and community member.

On Saturday, May 19, Missoula, Mont., hosted its second Garden City Open Jiu-Jitsu tournament. Bonners Ferry Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu sent 25 competitors there of all ages and had amazing results.

The Bonners Ferry Badger baseball team had to travel to Spirit Lake twice after the hour and a half game rain delay start on Tuesday, May 1, game against Timberlake went to a suspended game due to darkness with a 7-7 score through 7 innings. But, the Badgers came away with a thrilling 8-7 victory to capture their fourth straight league title after senior captain Chris Sabin smashed a solo home run in the top of the 9th inning.

BONNERS FERRY — The Springs Restaurant in the Kootenai River Inn was particularly packed for a Thursday night on Nov. 9, from 5-9 p.m. Not only were the tables filled with guests enjoying dinner, but the floor was alive with Badger spirit and pride. An old tradition, lost after many years, was resurrected — Tip a Badger night had returned.

Around 100 people filled the Lake Coeur d’Alene Room in the Student Union Building on campus for a community focus group organized by Kootenai County’s four chambers of commerce.
