Without any written record, there seems to be some confusion with the date of birth for Eneas Louis Abraham. According to his wife, “Chief Eneas” was born on November 5, 1881, however, the Indian Census Roll taken in 1937 listed his birth year as 1886. As he had no formal education and could not read or write, Eneas had the World War II registrar fill out his Draft Registration Card on which his birth date was listed as November 15, 1885. On that 1941 card, he placed his mark, an “X,” to verify the information was true.

Property owners are not responsible for funding schools, the state is. Levy money funds the job factory bloating school payroll with more liberal-minded teachers and unnecessary administrators. Early release schedules appease teachers' unions but reduce needed student class time, performance, and equal education.

A trio of North Idaho systems are among the half-dozen selected for grants to fund studies to evaluate community drinking water and wastewater systems. The Idaho Department of Environmental Quality announced the award of $191,300 to six drinking water and wastewater systems on Wednesday. Among those selected for a grant were the Sagle Valley Water and Sewer District in Bonner County, the Curley Creek Water Association in Boundary County, and the Kingston Water District in Shoshone County.

Bill aims to make first responder help permanent

Legislation to remove a sunset clause from a 2019 bill making psychological injuries suffered by first responders compensable was approved Tuesday by the Idaho House of Representatives. HB18 passed the House 69-0 and has been referred to the Senate Commerce & Human Resources Committee. If approved by the committee, it must be approved by the Senate and then signed by Gov. Brad Little to become law. The bill would then become part of Idaho’s standard coverage for first responders.
