BCMS students visit Washington, D.C.

Boundary County Middle School students recently headed to Washington, D.C. to explore the nation's capitol and surrounding area. A total of 19 students and four chaperones took part in the trip after spending 18 months fundraising and preparing for it. The group left in June shortly after school was out, spending five days visiting the region, including to Jamestown and Williamsburg, Va., Paula Harris Burt said. The next trip will be June 2024. Parent meeting for upcoming trip is Oct. 5 at 6 p.m. in Room 7 of the middle school.

Civil Air Patrol arrives in Bonners Ferry

Civil Air Patrol is now available to young people and adults in Bonners Ferry interested in aviation and in serving the community. CAP was founded in 1941 as a way to mobilize civilian pilots and aviation resources for national defense, Kamiab said. The new Bonners Ferry Civil Air Patrol Flight has already grown to 18 members including six senior members and 12 cadets with new members joining almost weekly.

Character counts! When I go into the voting booth to select someone who will represent me, I want a person of character. Steve Johnson’s announcement to run a District 1 Senate write-in candidate against Scott Herndon is welcome news as voters now have a choice between someone of character and someone who goes as low as possible to win.
