Most of the money will be used to help fund the recently installed 3D Mammogram equipment at Boundary Community Hospital. Tickets sold out early with many tickets going to the sponsored tables.

Free boat safety, paddle sport classes offered
The Boundary County Sheriff’s Office will be offering free Boat Safety and Paddle Sport Classes on Saturdays, March 7, 14 and 28, and April 4. Classes are at the Boundary County Waterways Building, 6821 Riverside St. in Bonners Ferry. Classes start at 8 a.m. and run about six hours.

BONNERS FERRY — The city of Bonners Ferry hopes to ask voters for permission to issue a bond that would finance $4.1 million in repairs to the aging Moyie Dam.

BONNERS FERRY — The Lady Badgers continued their season-long rivalry with the Kellogg Wildcats, topping them at home in the regular season finale, then losing the opening game of 3A District 1 competition to Kellogg on Monday night at Timberlake High School.

BONNERS FERRY — Lines of vendors selling an array of gun-related items, from rifles, to ammunition, to jewelry made from bullet casings, and much more, all gathered at the Boundary County Fairgrounds last Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, Feb. 7-9, for the Kootenai Valley Sportsman Association (KVSA) annual Gun & Horn Show.

NAPLES — Firefighters from three counties and five different districts came together last Saturday to brave the cold and train — on and in — a frozen lake, with the intention of learning and practicing skills that could possibly save lives.

The Silver Grille Café was opened in 1945, in the Hotel Casey, by Charlie Kelson who had purchased the hotel building in 1942. Kelson sold the building to Mr. Chisholm in 1946, but retained ownership of the café. Kelson sold the café business in 1950, and the new owners created a Chinese-American food restaurant.

NAPLES — Due to a fatality accident that closed U.S. 95 on Tuesday, Feb. 4, many people were stuck in their cars for hours, and first responders spent almost 10 hours out in the snow, handling traffic control.

Booms from derailment removed from river
MOYIE SPRINGS — The cleanup process since the Jan. 1 derailment of the BNSF train has been a project involving multiple agencies. After the locomotive was removed from the river, the next sign of the progress came when the booms were removed from the Kootenai River.

On Feb. 16, 2019 a rifle match was held at the Kootenai Valley Range. Using .22 caliber rifles, aiming at a target fifty feet away, 18 shooters completed the course shooting in the prone, standing and kneeling positions.

Recent phone call scam
According to the Boundary County Sheriff’s Office, there have been recent fraud calls to Boundary County residents from someone claiming to be from the Publishers Clearing House. They advise the person that they have won several million dollars, and/or a car or other prizes, and then ask the person to get a gift card or provide some sort of financial information to claim the prize.
Veterans outreach sessions planned
On Thursday, Feb. 13 and Thursday, Feb 27, the representative from the Idaho State Veteran’s Service Office will be in Bonners Ferry to answer questions about current veteran’s benefits, assist with ongoing claims, and take new claims for benefits for eligible veterans and their dependents.

Forrest M. Bird Charter School is excited to announce they are now taking applications for the 2020-2021 school year. Each year the charter school opens a window for enrollment of new students for the coming school year. This year the window is open Feb. 1, and concludes March 19, at 3 p.m.
